Chlorpromazine
Chlorpromazine, molecular model. Chlorpromazine is also known as chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CPZ), Thorazine in the US and as Largactil in Europe. It was one of the first antipsychotic drugs developed to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Chlorpromazine acts by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain. In psychotic patients with overactivity of dopamine in the brain, chlopromazine produces a calming effect and controls aggression, delusions and hallucinations. It is also prescribed to control nausea, vomiting and persistent hiccups
