Dickens property at Gadshill Place in Rochester, Kent was divided by a road and at the consent of the local authorites he built an underground access to the shrubbery and placed a Swiss Chalet there which was presented to him by Mr Fecther in Paris. It arrived in 94 pieces and fitted together like a jigsaw.
