Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - Sweden

Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - Sweden. These cards enabled collectors to see stamps which they were unable to obtain, or afford. There is a complete set of 180 cards, some of the smaller countries had a very low printing run and are hence very rare. Used Zeiher cards are very hard to find as the embossed stamp design was not approved by postal authorities as it confused the function of the proper stamps! Date: circa 1904

EDITORS COMMENTS
Discover the captivating world of Ottmar Zeihar's Stamp Cards from Sweden, a unique and intriguing collectible from the early 1900s. These exquisite cards, published by Ottmar Zeihar in Sweden, were designed to enable stamp collectors to admire and appreciate stamps that they may have been unable to obtain or afford due to low printing runs or high costs. The Stamp Cards consist of a complete set of 180 cards, each featuring an embossed stamp design in montage form, representing various countries and regions from around the world. In this particular image, we focus on the selection of cards showcasing the stamps of Sweden. The intricate designs of the Swedish crests and coats of arms are beautifully rendered in the embossed stamp montages. The production of these cards dates back to circa 1904, an era when philately, or stamp collecting, was gaining immense popularity. However, it is important to note that the embossed stamp designs on these cards were not approved by postal authorities, as they could potentially confuse the function of proper stamps during mail delivery. Despite their unusual origin, these Zeihar Stamp Cards have become highly sought-after collectibles among philatelists and stamp enthusiasts. The rarity of some of the smaller country cards makes them particularly valuable and difficult to find. This image offers a glimpse into the fascinating history of stamp collecting and the allure of obtaining hard-to-find and rare stamps.
