EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the corner view of the Albion Public House, located in the historic town of Reigate, Surrey (RH2 9HY). The Albion, a cherished local watering hole, was a beloved institution in the community up until its unfortunate demise in 1967. The image, taken by an unknown photographer, presents a snapshot of a bygone era, with the pub's ornate facade and inviting frontage beckoning passersby. The Albion, a public house, was a popular gathering place for locals and travelers alike. Its warm and welcoming atmosphere made it a staple in the Reigate community. The pub, also known as a boozer or bar, was a place where friends met, stories were shared, and laughter filled the air. The photograph, preserved by The National Brewery Heritage Trust, offers a glimpse into the rich history of the pub industry in Surrey. The Albion, with its distinctive design and charming character, is a reminder of the important role that public houses played in the social fabric of communities throughout the region. Sadly, the Albion was demolished in 1967, and the site is now used as a car park. The back of the print, available upon request, provides a poignant reminder of the pub's address and its last known existence as of July 2018. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the Albion and the many memories it holds for those who once called it their local.
