The GLC-LFB was created on 1 April 1965. A series of photos was commissioned of each type of fire engine, either within or absorbed into the enlarged London Fire Brigade. The pump escape from Croydon fire station (H31) seen here is a Dennis diesel appliance. Prior to 1965 Croydon had its own fire brigade and unlike London its 50 foot escape ladders were made from metal, not wood
