ITALY, Rome, Lazio, The Boca Della Verite or Mouth of Truth at the church of Santa Maria In Cosmedin. Possibly a 4th Century drain cover it is set into the wall of the portico and Medieval tradition had it that the mouth would close over the hand of those that told a lie.
